  • This service provides peer-to-peer consultation for independently licensed clinicians navigating complex clinical situations involving suicide risk. This space supports ethical clinical decision making in moments where additional perspective is clinically warranted.

  • This consultation service is intentionally limited to areas of demonstrated expertise.

    Consultation is appropriate for clinicians seeking support with:

    • Suicide risk assessment and determination of level of concern

    • Clinical decision-making related to endorsed or suspected suicide ideation

    • Navigating ambiguous suicide risk presentations

    • Ethical and documentation considerations related to suicide risk

    • Determining appropriate next steps when client safety is a concern

    • Risk assessment, consultation framing, and clinical judgment in high-stakes scenarios

  • Relevant qualifications include:

    • Completion of Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) training program created by the Counseling & Education Department at UNC Greensboro, with formal coursework in ethical practice and utilizing the consultation role

    • Extensive experience providing clinical consultation and risk assessment support within various crisis line settings including 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, clinical mental health, university counseling centers, and employee assistance programs

    • Ongoing practice in suicide risk assessment, level of care determination, and next-step decision-making in time-sensitive, high-stakes interactions

    • Specialized focus on consultation framing, documentation clarity, and ethical reasoning when client safety is a concern

  • $150 per 60 minute consultation.

  • Consultation services are collaborative and educational in nature. They are not a substitute for clinical supervision, emergency services, or legal consultation. The consulting clinician retains full responsibility for clinical decisions and client care.
